Why Beeswax Beats Every Other Candle Wax
Beeswax is the only candle wax on the market made by a living creature — not extracted from petroleum (paraffin) or processed from soybeans with chemical solvents (most "soy" candles). It's the original candle wax, used for thousands of years, and there's a reason it's still the gold standard.
- Cleanest burn of any wax. Beeswax burns hotter, slower, and brighter than paraffin or soy, with virtually no soot when wicked correctly.
- No petroleum, no GMOs, no hexane. Paraffin is a byproduct of crude oil refining. Most soy wax is made from genetically modified soybeans processed with hexane, a neurotoxin. Beeswax is just… wax.
- Naturally fragrant. Pure beeswax smells faintly of honey when it burns. No synthetic fragrance oils required (which is good, because synthetic fragrance is the dirtiest part of most candles).
- A renewable byproduct of beekeeping. Buying beeswax candles supports the beekeepers who keep pollinators thriving.
- The warmest light spectrum. Beeswax flames put out a golden, sun-like glow that other waxes can't match.
Why Bluecorn Beeswax Is the Best You Can Buy
Not all beeswax is created equal. A lot of "beeswax" candles on the market are actually beeswax blends — as little as 51% beeswax, the rest paraffin or soy filler. Ours never are.
- 100% pure beeswax. Period. No blends. No fillers. No "fragrance." Just bees wax and a cotton wick.
- Lightly filtered. We filter just enough to remove debris while keeping the natural color, aroma, and beneficial properties of the wax intact.
- Now plastic-free. Our tea light refills were first designed to refill poly holders. This bundle is part of our move towards a fully plastic-free tea light system.
- Made in the USA. Hand-poured in Montrose, Colorado, by a small team that's been doing this since 1991.
- Designed to be refilled, not replaced. The glass holders aren't disposable packaging dressed up as "reusable." They're real glass, built to live on your dinner table for years. Need more? Find more glass tea light holders here.
How to Get the Most Out of Each Beeswax Tea Light
Beeswax tea lights are happiest when you let them do their full job in one or two sittings, not lots of short burns.
Best practice: one long burn. Light it during a long dinner, a movie, or an evening at home and let it burn the full 4–5 hours straight through. You'll get every drop of wax used, the steadiest flame, and the longest total burn time.
Next best: two longer burns. If one sitting doesn't work, aim for two burns of about 2 to 2.5 hours each. Avoid lots of short 20-minute burns. Beeswax has a high melt point, and short burns leave unmelted wax stuck to the sides of the cup, shortening the candle's life.
At the end of its life, let the tea light burn until it goes out on its own. This squeezes out the last bit of usable wax.
Always burn on a level, heat-safe surface. Never leave a lit candle unattended. Keep wicks trimmed if they curl.
Cleaning Your Glass Candle Holders: The Freezer Trick
We searched high and low for glass tea light holders that would burn our pure beeswax tea lights with maximum efficiency and minimal leftover wax, that said, you may have a little bit, especially if you went with multiple burns. Here's how to clean that out, the easy way!
- Pop the glass holder into the freezer for an hour or two.
- The wax contracts as it cools, making it easy to pop free from the glass.
- Pop out the leftover wax, drop in a fresh tea light and you're ready to glow again!

Frequently Asked Questions
Are these tea lights really 100% plastic-free? Yes. The candles ship without plastic shrink wrap or plastic cups, just pure beeswax with cotton wicks and refillable glass holders.
How long does each tea light burn? 4 to 5 hours.
What's the best way to burn a beeswax tea light? One long 4–5 hour burn is ideal. Two longer burns of about 2–2.5 hours each is the next best option. Avoid many short burns.
How do I clean out the holder for a refill? Place the glass holder with leftover wax inside in the freezer. The wax will pop out cleanly.
Are these tea lights unscented? They contain no added fragrance, but pure beeswax has a soft, naturally honey-like aroma when burned.
Are the wicks lead-free? Yes. All Bluecorn wicks are 100% natural fiber with no lead, zinc, or metal core.
Can I subscribe to refills only, without buying more holders? Absolutely! After your first order, your subscription will automatically swap to just refill candles at an even lower price.
Where are these made? In Montrose, Colorado, by Bluecorn — a small, legacy beeswax candle maker with over 30 years of experience.
