Collection: Advent Candles in 100% Pure Beeswax
Four Sundays. One candle at a time. The wreath on your table gets a little brighter each week until the whole thing is burning at once and it's finally Christmas.
Most Advent candles sold today are paraffin — a petroleum byproduct, dyed on the surface, gone in a few hours. Ours are hand-dipped from 100% pure beeswax, colored all the way through, and they burn about an hour per inch. Light them week after week and they'll still be standing when the season ends.
Shop our Advent Taper Bundle for three pairs of purple tapers and one pair of pink, then choose between an Ivory Beeswax Pillar or Tapers, depending on your wreath.

Why Choose Pure Beeswax Advent Candles?
Real beeswax, not paraffin with a purple coat
Beeswax burns slower, cleaner and brighter than paraffin, with a faint honey scent that comes from the wax itself, not fragrance oils. We dip every taper by hand for minimal drips and an ultra-long burn time.
The traditional colors, dyed all the way through
Three deep Eggplant tapers for the Sundays of preparation, one Dusty Rose for Gaudete — the third Sunday, when the mood lifts. The color runs through the whole candle rather than sitting on the surface, so it stays true as the candle burns down.
Sized for the wreath you already own
7/8" diameter — the standard for Advent wreath inserts — in 8", 10", 12", and 16" lengths. Approximately one hour of burn per inch, drip-free with proper care. 12" is our most popular beeswax taper length, 16" is the most dramatic.
Made by hand in Colorado since 1991
Bluecorn has been dipping pure beeswax tapers in the Colorado mountains for thirty-five years. Each candle is perfectly balanced for minimal drips and maximum glow. The candles on your Advent wreath this year came out of a small workshop, not off a factory line.
Advent Candle FAQ
What colors are Advent candles, and why?
The traditional set is three purple and one rose. Purple marks preparation and anticipation; the rose candle is lit on the third Sunday, called Gaudete Sunday, when the tone of the season shifts toward joy. Some households add a white Christ candle in the center for Christmas Eve.
How many candles come in the set?
Our Advent taper bundle comes in four linked pairs, for eight total candles — six purple, two pink.
Will the taper candles drip?
Not with proper care. Keep them out of drafts, trim the wick to 1/4" before first lighting and not after (the long wick helps prevent drips) and always burn them upright and level. Beeswax has a higher melting point than paraffin, which is a large part of why hand-dipped beeswax tapers are more resistant to dripping.
How long will one candle last through Advent?
Our hand-dipped beeswax tapers burn roughly an hour per inch. A 12" taper gives you about twelve hours — enough for a first-Sunday candle burning of a few hours each evening through the whole season, with room to spare.
Can these be used in church?
Yes. Beeswax is the traditional wax of liturgical candlemaking and remains the standard many parishes prefer. If your parish has specific requirements for wax composition or dimensions, check with them first — practices vary. Bluecorn's beeswax candles are always 100% beeswax.
When do you light each candle?
First Sunday of Advent: Light one purple candle (symbol of hope).
Second Sunday of Advent: Light the first purple candle plus a second purple candle (symbol of peace/faith).
Third Sunday of Advent: Light the first two purple candles plus the pink candle (symbol of joy).
Fourth Sunday of Advent: Light all four purple and pink candles (symbol of love/waiting).
Christmas Eve / Day: Light the central white Christ candle if you use one.
Light the first one on November 30th
Advent begins the fourth Sunday before Christmas. Order by early November and your candles will be on the table in time.
