Giving Back at Bluecorn

Bluecorn gives back by planting trees as we grow, offsetting our carbon, showing up for our neighbors, partnering on bigger global efforts and keeping independent public media strong. We're a small company, so we'd rather give steadily and close to home than make splashy one-time gestures. Here's how it works, and how to ask us for support.

Trees for Boxes

For every 200 custom-branded boxes we produce, we plant a tree. Every corporate gift order, wedding favor run, and branded box adds to the count, so our growth puts roots in the ground. We run this program together with our core packaging partner, PackMojo.

Carbon Offsetting

Bluecorn is a carbon-neutral business. We work with ClimeCo to offset the carbon footprint of our entire company, from production to shipping.

Community Giving

Most of our giving happens right here in Colorado, in the community that keeps us going. It comes in two sizes:

  • Everyday support: gift cards and candle gift boxes for youth sports teams, school auctions, raffles, and local environmental and community organizations.
  • Bigger commitments: partnering with artists, makers and local food producers to host events and fundraisers in our space.

We say yes to a lot of these, and we'd like to keep it that way. The priorities below help us say yes to the right ones.

Global Partnerships

A few times a year, we team up with international organizations on focused campaigns that connect to what we make and care about.

  • Heifer International: helping bring honeybee hives to rural communities, so families gain a source of income, food, and pollination for their crops. For a beeswax company, this one's close to our hearts.
  • Doctors Without Borders: our Giving Tuesday fundraiser last year supported emergency medical care where it's needed most.

These partnerships are chosen by our team each year rather than by application.

Public Media & Journalism

We believe a healthy community needs good local news and independent reporting, so we put steady support behind it in the form of underwriting and advertising dollars.

Our Donation Priorities

We get more requests than we can fill, so we prioritize in this order:

  1. Local first. Organizations and events in our own community.
  2. Food, farms and the land. Slow food, sustainable ag groups, farmers markets, food security, and conservation work.
  3. Bees and pollinators. Anything that helps honeybees, native pollinators, or beekeepers.
  4. Kids and schools. Youth sports, school fundraisers and education programs, especially those that get kids outside!
  5. Public media and journalism. Independent, community-supported news and storytelling.

What we usually can't support: requests for cash donations outside our set partnerships, political campaigns or candidates, events that conflict with our values, and requests with less than 3 weeks' lead time.

How to Request a Donation

  1. Email us at sales@beeswaxcandles.com at least 3 weeks before your event.
  2. Tell us who you are, what the event or cause is, and what you're asking for (product, gift box, or use of our space).
  3. Include your nonprofit status if you have it (not required for local teams and schools).
  4. We'll reply within 2 weeks either way.

We set a yearly cap on donations, so we can't fill every request. Within that budget, we do our best to meet as many needs as we can, following the priorities above.
