Refill your favorite Aromática jar for $29, about a third less than a new large candle ($45). Each kit holds 10 oz of scented coconut wax, two cotton wicks and two centering sticks in a 100% home-compostable pouch: enough to refill one large Aromática candle or two small ones. Melt, pour and your scented candle is burning again.

Fall is here, and so are our coziest scents. Pumpkin and Ponderosa Pine are back for the season, and The Woodsy and Arroyo are made for cold nights. A kit also makes an easy stocking stuffer for anyone who already loves their Aromática candle.

Seasonal Favorites

🍂 Pumpkin: Not your average pumpkin spice. Pure essential oils of nutmeg, cardamom and cinnamon meet bright apple and lemon over a warm pumpkin-maple accord.

🌲 Ponderosa Pine: Essential oils of pine, cypress and fir needle with a touch of bergamot. It smells like the high alpine at its most elemental.

🌲 The Woodsy: Inspired by snow-covered mountain forests: fresh pine, clove, blue spruce and lemon over moss, musk and sweet tonka bean.

🔥 Arroyo: Spicy and warm, with black pepper, nutmeg and citrus unfolding into frankincense, jasmine and green cypress, finishing with amber, cedarwood and patchouli.

Year-Round Scents

✔️ Artemisa: The Colorado foothills: green sage, thyme and eucalyptus, lifted by bergamot and lime and grounded in sandalwood and cedarwood.

✔️ La Mesa: Fresh and earthy, with basil, rhubarb and floral cannabis over fir needle and fresh soil, inspired by the orchards of Colorado’s North Fork Valley.

✔️ Paloma: Grapefruit, citron and prickly pear evolving into peach nectar, golden apple and juniper berries, on a crisp rhubarb and woody base.

✔️ Mountain Lilac: Inspired by the lilac blooms of Rico, Colorado: wild lilac, wood hyacinth, mountain bluebells and bristlecone pine on a warm vetiver base.

✔️ White Lily: Blooming lilies, fresh green foliage and velvety violets for an elegant, romantic floral.

What's in the Kit

  • 10 oz clean-burning coconut wax with non-toxic, phthalate-free fragrance oils, made in the USA
  • Two natural cotton wicks
  • 50-55 more hours of Aromática candlelight depending on your format (two smalls at ~25hrs each or one large at ~55 hrs total)
  • Two wooden wick-centering sticks
  • A 100% home-compostable refill pouch
  • Glassware is not included. Need a jar? Start with a pre-filled Aromática candle, then refill it when it burns down.

How It Works

1. Melt the open pouch in the microwave (about 90 seconds, then 30-second bursts) or in boiling water (about 5 minutes).
2. Set the wick in the center of a clean, heat-proof jar and hold it upright with the centering stick.
3. Pour to ¼ inch below the rim, let it cool for 2 hours, and trim the wick to ¼ inch.

Refill Tips

💡 Works with any heat-proof jar 2.5–3" wide. Aromática glassware works best.
💡 One wick per candle, so pour one large or two small. Leftover wax keeps for later.
💡 To clean an old jar, dig out any remaining wax and wick clip with a spoon and then wash away residue with hot, soapy water 
💡 On the first burn, let the wax melt edge to edge before blowing it out.
💡 The pouch may wrinkle or wear a little when heated. That's normal for compostable packaging.

Bag not fit for melting on stovetop

I attempted to melt the wax on the stovetop. The candle wax is advertised as being capable of being melted on the stovetop. Unfortunately, this didn’t hold true. The bag failed and the liquified wax leaked out of the bag. I was only able to yield 1/3 of the wax as a result.

I’m really sorry the bag failed on you while melting the wax on the stovetop — that’s incredibly frustrating, and it’s not the experience we want anyone to have. In the rare cases we’ve seen this, it’s usually because the bag had a tiny tear or pinhole that wasn’t visible when it left our shop, and I’m sorry if that happened here.

May take some practice but is absolutely worth it!

I had participated in the trial before these candle refill kits were released, and I have been using them ever since! The kit is straight-forward to use, although it may take a try or two to get everything right. For example, the first time that I was making a candle, either I accidentally made a hole in the pouch or it burst. I am now more gentle with the pouch when boiling it. Also, some of my candles were burning unevenly because the wick had drifted to one side. I reached out to the customer service who advised me on how to correct the wick placement.

Overall, I enjoy making my own candles, using the Aromática Scented Candle Refill Kit. It may take some practice but is absolutely worth it! I love the part when the wax starts melting, and the fragrance fills up my whole apartment! The Aromática candles are my favorite because they smell amazing, and the scents are unique, not like I have ever seen any other candle company make. I am now able to refill my Aromática candle jars, which is not only more sustainable, but also cheaper because you get a large Aromática candle out of every refill kit!

Smells great and easy to use

I had candle jars I wanted to reuse because I liked the color— they match my decor.
To prep, I boiled my old jars in water for a couple minutes, to remove the candle wax, then washed and dried them. Then, I used the same hot water to boil the bag with the Bluecorn wax.
After cutting the wicks to the right length, and using the popsicle stick for the wick in one jar, I wrapped the other wick around a pencil to stabilize the other, then I was able to place each jar on newspaper and pour in the hot wax. It wasn’t messy.
The bag held enough to make two small candles. They took a couple hours to harden to a beautiful white.
The kit was great and it was easy.

Two of the 3 kits lacked enough wicks and sticks

I loved the kits, which were easy to use. Any residual wax in the pouch was used to refresh an existing candle or splashed into the garage bin to freshen the smell. However, each kit is supposed to contain 2 wicks and 2 sticks for suspending the wick in the middle. The Pine and Artemesia had only one of these. I had to cut a piece of the one wick to use in a 2nd pour, giving me a lot of wax leftover since I couldn't a 2nd full-sized candle. Only the Paloma had the correct number of wicks and sticks.

Good final results but messy process

Just my experience, but this wasn’t as simple as I would have liked. I ended up with a perfect product though! But it took some repeated, stirring and microwaving and I still couldn’t get it 100% melted without overheating the rest of it. The pouring was messy. Cleanup was messy. The kitchen smelled great though! I probably would still try it again with the experience under my belt now! I’m a very crafty person, and I won’t be beaten by a candlemaking kit.

While these refill kits are designed for our Aromática glass, you can use them to refill a wide range of holders. The included wicks are engineered for vessels that are roughly 2.5" to 3" wide. Our 100% recycled spanish glass is closer to 4" in diameter, so you might get a bit of tunneling.
