The recycled Spanish glass broke from the votive candle heat the first time I used it.

We’re so sorry to hear that your Spanish glass holder broke on the first burn. While it’s not common, it can happen. Sometimes the wick may lean toward the side of the holder, which can concentrate heat in one spot—gently nudging the wick back to the center can help prevent this.

I love the look of this candle holder however I personally think it could be a bit wider. I had a wick problem with a votive and after it cooled down I could not remove the votive from the glass. The votive is standard size and fits very snugly into this holder. A tiny bit more width would make it perfect.

These Spanish glass holders are designed to fit votives as snugly as possible since a true beeswax votive is meant to fully liquefy and melt into its container. That close fit helps support the melt pool and gives you the best, longest burn. Filling with boiling water to melt and float wax to top requires a bit of help with an implement to pry some of the wax off of the bottom. I used something disposable to I didn’t have wax on something else that needed dewaxing. Like the candle holders - just the right size.

This candle holder is very pleasant in appearance, with a prominent lip and base, lovely pale green hue, and slightly rough texture. A minor criticism is that it is a bit too roomy to burn votive candles as efficiently as another, typically smaller holder would. But the difference is not a big one, and is tolerable. Really, in sum, it is delightful.

This is a well-made, heavy duty candle holder. It looks great with a small candle burning in it. The waviness of the glass lends it a unique, old-timey look.
