Capturing the Perfect Lilac - Spring Scented Candles at Bluecorn

When we first ventured into the wild and wonderful world of fragrance-forward candles, we knew a couple of things: we cared deeply about clean, quality ingredients and nuanced, evocative scents rooted in something real—our connection to the Colorado backcountry and spirited mountain living.

Late spring in the Colorado high country is always accompanied by the scent of lilacs blooming in profusion. These ancient, prolific bushes thrive in the in-between places—along fence lines and near waterways. For a few sacred weeks, beauty and abundance grace these unexpected corners.

It was this fondness for the hardy, jubilant lilac that guided our search all winter long. We tested one formulation after another, but nothing felt quite right. We wanted more earth, but also more sunlight—and what, exactly, does that smell like?

Then we found it: Mountain Lilac. A fresh, lush lilac scented candle with just the right woody base notes and the power to evoke spring’s sweetness year-round. Hand-poured with vegan coconut wax into a beautiful glass jar, it’s quickly become a seasonal favorite—both in our mercantile and online.

We craft all our Aromática candles with coconut wax because it’s ideal for scented candles: clean-burning, sustainable, and capable of holding a remarkably high fragrance load—almost double that of beeswax. For anyone seeking non-toxic candles with serious scent payoff, Aromática delivers. And for the fragrance connoisseurs who typically opt for $80–$100 candles, we think you’ll be delighted to discover that Bluecorn Aromática offers equally refined scents at a much more accessible price point.

This spring we launched a bouquet of lively new scents: White Lily, Paloma, and, of course, Mountain Lilac. If you're not sure where to start, our sample tins offer a great 6-hour test drive!
